My family is Mexican. Before moving to the U.S.A. my family had never eaten turkey (or at least not to my recollection). It's not that we're opposed to the idea of turkey during Thanksgiving: we just are not big fans of it. Usually we have all the trimmings (mashed potatoes, cranberry, pies, etc.) with a big ham. This year we had visitors and decided we should continue with the traditional American meal & go all out by adding in a turkey.
We're not sure where we went wrong. All I know is that we were extremely grateful for our plump little ham this year.
