Thanks to Netflix instant demands I have discovered a new show, Pushing Daisies. It's witty, fun and interesting. But, to be quite honest, what keeps me coming back are the costumes. They are vibrant, detailed and utterly classic.
I realize that the 50s were a time when McCarthism ruled with an iron fist and women's rights were not quite where they could be but, how can you deny the ladylike wonder of such dainty clothes such as these:
Chuck (aka Charlotte) is dressed to the nines in each episode. Without fail I fall instantly in love and yearn for the ability to create my own clothing. Puffy sleeves, bright fabrics and dresses would dominate my wardrobe...and, Fran, this dress would make a lovely gift (psst, it's on sale).
Side note: the show takes place in present day America. The costume (and set) designers throwback to the 50's makes it triply charming. Or so I like to think.

Yay! I'm so glad you like the show! It made me want pie after every episode. And yes, her wardrobe is spectacular. I love wearing dresses and wish that they were more prominently featured when shopping for workclothes.
Also, Fran you should definitely get that dress for her because it's adorable!
I absolutely adore this show!! I was heartbroken when it was canceled.
Additional comment: I want her red dress!!!
Nice dresses, I am sure Claudia would love this show too. But why going back in time, no more creativity?
Hugs, love.

YES! Thanks for the suggestion. I'm always looking for TV shows to rent and marathon my way through.
I agree -- the clothes are adorable!
Psych...I love this show! I think it is completely underrated and such a good, fun show. It is CSI-ish in that there is a dead person in every show and they are looking for the killer. It is The Mentalist-ish in that the main character has heightened observation skills (Psych came out first, and they tend to pick on The Mentalist from time to time, which is amusing!) The twist is that the police think he is psychic. James Roday and Dule Hill, the main actors, are awesome and really make the show! Plus, there are hundreds of '80's references and there is a pineapple to try and spot in every episode! So, with all of that said, I totally recommend Psych!
p.s. Nick and I recently got into How I Met Your Mother and love it!
