Nesting, step 1: meeting the landlord

Tonight Fran & I met our landlord, Giles. I had been corresponding with him via email & phone calls for the past few weeks. The lease on the house became official a couple days ago but we still had not met face to face. Until today. Not only is he the sweetest guy, ever. He is also Paul Rudd's slightly shorter brother.

Well. Not really his brother. He just looks that much like Mr. Paul Rudd himself. Crazily so. But the three coolest things about him?

1. He is granting Fran & I the opportunity to begin our first home in his 100 year old house.

2. His fiancee is the editor who found the book, Shiver. For those of you who do not indulge in young adult literature (long public secret of mine) should be made aware that this is the werewolf version of Twilight. Only it's not a cheap recreation. If you have an opportunity to pick it up, please do. It's a great story.

I also offered my bookworm tendencies as a free tester of books in case his future wife is ever interested in researching public interest. I'm hoping that if I'm the best tenant on earth, this will happen!

3. He left us with a super neat fact: did you know that there is a 3% difference between male and female chromosomes? That also happens to be the difference between human and chimpanzee chromosomes. Which, as his physicist friend told him, tells us that men and women really are a completely different species.

After meeting with Giles today, I am convinced that our little blue house will be the perfect fit for Fran & I's first place. Little Blue is by no means perfect but she has personality and spunk. Just the way I like it!

I am so excited for you and Fran and this incredible experience. Starting fresh, and as a married couple, in a house is one of the most exciting prospects, albeit overwhelming. But, with all of the research and inspiration you have been finding lately I know you will turn it into your dream home. Can't wait to hear/see how it goes!

I have always been into young adult fiction too. That's why I waited in the longest line of my life to see Stephanie Meyer in person.

Your house sounds so adorable! I can't wait to see it. I can't believe it's 100 years old!

Please put some pictures up!

And yes... men and women are definitely a different species from each other!

We are 68% the same, DNA-wise, as jellyfish also. Fun fact.

The house is awesome! You guys all have to come by when it's ready!
