New resolution.

Walking the fabric aisle at Hobby Lobby gets my juices flowing. The colors, the textures, the possibilities- it makes me long to buy every yard of fabric I fall in love with and create something! This particular combination may seem a bit childlike but they are so merry and bright, I want them in the kitchen:

The only hitch in my dream? I cannot sew.

Actually, I take that back. Two years ago I made my own poodle skirt for a Halloween outfit. The result was not pretty and therefore, I promptly moved on to the next best thing: buying pre-made costumes. But, now that I am starting to look for things to put into my new home I find that what I have in mind is not readily available. Therefore, I am adding a new goal to my 2010 resolutions list: teach myself how to sew. The results may not be immediately pleasing to the eye but I've seen the prices of throw pillows & they are a bit over the top. This is one beast I am prepared to tackle.

you can do it!
sewing is a life skill that you can grow with. just learn the basics & go from there.

good luck.

Sometimes I feel like I should learn how to sew so that I can mend my future kids' clothes, etc... but then I get lazy about learning.
Maybe your resolution will inspire me!! GOOD LUCK! Keep us updated.

I wish you the best of luck on this goal...I think it is an awesome goal, and one that I am still working on. Maybe we should inspire each other and take a class together. I have the basics, but would love to be able to do more.

(And pick an easy first project so that you feel super accomplished!)
Good luck!!
