Book-a-palooza

Last Saturday at the George R. Brown the Houston Public Library held their annual book sale. All proceeds benefit HPL and at $1 a book, you can't really go wrong. I went for the first time last year and left with two bags bulging with wonderful books. This year, I thought ahead and brought a box.

Someone else's trash, in this case the City of Houston, handed me many treasures.

Fellow book devotees. Mr. Yellow Back Pack was on a mission.

COH is smart. They realize people, like myself, do not come with a limitless supply of arms (or carts with wheels) and in order to make it easier on you, they provide an area for you to lay your books. You walk up to the table, the nice lady (usually old) hands you half a ticket and keeps your finds safe until your ready to head to the register. I made three pit stops before I headed to the next section, the Sit & Sort.

The hardest part (other than carrying so many books) was to go through and try to choose the best of the bunch. As much as I would have loved to take them all, a) I'm saving up my pennies and b) I have a limited amount of space in which to properly store them.

Don't make fun of my purchases. I love happy endings and steamy romance novels never disappoint. What I'm most excited about, however, are the travel books. I hope to put them to good use in the future.

I think for next year it'll have to be a box and a small wagon. My arms were not happy with my purchases. In the meantime, happy reading everyone!

No no nooooo
You only mentioned Taming of the Shrew! And, either way, I wouldn't have been able to join you! But still. Next time I'm going to put it on my calendar far in advance.
You're a lucky, lucky woman!
