Gold quest

Lately Doakes has taken to gnawing on his owner's shoes, particularly Fran's. Each time we'd come home to find a Fran shoe in drooly conditions, he'd rant and rave while I calmly reminded him that if he had only put his shoes in their proper place, Doakes would not have been tempted.

Fast forward to now. I walked in the door after work and spot bits of something metallic on the kitchen floor. As I round the corner I spy with my little eye my FAVORITE GOLD flats:

(ignore Mildred's kitchen cracked linoleum floor)

I didn't really get upset when Doakes tore through my cookbooks (after all those Rachel Ray recipes sucked) but to walk in and see my go-to shoe as a chew toy!? Oh yeah, Hulk Dahnya was released and Doaksie boy was the sole victim.

I'm not sure if it was my rabid text or my incessant rant about the loss of my beloved golden flats (aka Genie slippers in Fran lingo) but it has led to my hunt for brand new flats with no complaint from my husband. Unfortunately, I spent most of Sunday on the prowl with no luck.

I came across the Sperry gold boat shoe, which is cute but not all-outfit-encompassing.

Of course, Kate always provides a viable but far too pricey option.

I searched JCrew, Zappos, Nordstroms, DSW, you name it, I browsed it. Either I am way too finicky or much too poor. If you come across any in the next few weeks, please send them my way! My closet will surely appreciate it.

Oh no! Have you checked out Target? They have several gold/metallic options online: http://www.target.com/b/ref=br_items_viewall?ie=UTF8&node=347674011&searchSize=150&searchView=grid3&searchPage=1&rh=target_com_primary_color-bin%3AGold|target_com_primary_color-bin%3ASilver&searchBinNameList=target_com_category-bin%2Cstyle_name%2Ctarget_com_shoe_size-bin%2Clifestyle-bin%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchRank=salesrank

[pardon the long link!]

Okay so there is Nordstrom Rack in the Galleria Area, it is cheaper then Nordstroms its like on par with some of Marshall prices but i walked there the other day CUTE FLATS (not sure about metallic but I can see) and they were ranging from 20-30 bucks! I can take a pic for you and email it to you see what you think? I plan on walking there again for lunch.

Oh and Pollie ate all my cute shoes so I am down to 3 pairs of sensible shoes because of her and they are now on a top shelf in my closet.

gap has some great flats and 40% off right now. they have them in tons of great colors, leather or patent leather. with the discount they end up being around $24, and they have good foot support.

keep an eye out for j. crew's upcoming sales, or subscribe to j. crew factory-- their outlet-- for better deals. these are my fave flats, but yes, very pricey.

you can always invest in tory burch flats, but they are super $$$, and you'll have to guard them against doakes with your life! hehe.

also, tj maxx on west gray-- in river oaks-- such good deals in every price range here!! i highly suggest this location!

oh oh oh, also, the consignment shop near st. thomas is good if you don't mind using second-hand shoes. i think it's called charity guild-- around the kroger in montrose. i've found great shoes and clothes here!
